Abstract

Business cycle fluctuations have shown to not follow a clear pattern over time. We are concerned with the statistical properties of the distributions of filtered labor market time series for the United States. We find that - with the exception of the time series for wages - the other key labor market time series are all non-normally distributed and show significant time-variability in mean and standard deviation.
