Abstract

Purpose: The healthcare industry has a significant environmental impact because it is one of the most resource-intensive industries. Large volumes of energy, water, and single-use materials are consumed by healthcare institutions, which greatly increases pollution, waste production, and greenhouse gas emissions. This paper looks at how crucial healthcare leadership is to promoting green practices in healthcare settings. To reduce the environmental effect of the healthcare sector, improve public health, and further global sustainability goals, it examines how leaders in the sector design, implement, and maintain environmental programs. The paper also examines how heaqlthcare executives could overcome common barriers to greening initiatives, including misinformation, change aversion, and a lack of funds.
