Moderating the Effect of Work Environment via Organizational Commitment: A Study on Motivation and Its Impact on Employee Performance

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship of motivation and employee performance by having work environment and the organization commitment as mediating and moderating respectively. The research was conducted at a private engineering college in Tamil Nadu. Based on the stratified sampling formulation, there are up to 307 employees in the sample. The research assumption was tested using models of structural equations (Smart PLS 4). The study found that employee motivation and job performance are both positive and important. Organizational commitment as a mediating variable to explain the impact of workplace motivation on employee performance.
